Borealis Estoril – New Addition to the family!

Borealis has been around for few years now; very well known for their sturdy and well built divers watches; their latest releases is the Esotril.
The project started last September 2015 and it went into fruition in April…
I was a bit late to the game, but I couldn’t resist any longer and I snapped one at a bargain price, and it was delivered to my door in less than a week.
Estoril is a clear homage to the legendary Omega Seamaster 300.
It is clearly a homage, but Borealis did an excellent job to capture the iconic design with modern aspects.
The case is one of the best features of this watch, it is very thin, well constructed, brilliant finish with mix between polished and satin brushed surfaces.
Its lugs are pointed downwards to hug the wrist tightly, very nicely finished bezel that is easily gripped and has a fascintaing action with no play at all while it is perfectly aligned.
The screw down crown is large and well proportioned with brilliant and assuring action, while the sapphire crystal stands proud with it dome!
The crystal is AR coated from inside, and it is very clear in all lighting conditions.
The insert is sapphire with lumed markers, it dresses up the watch a bit, without altering the toolish feel.
The case back is simple, with the basic information displayed there along a very nicely done mermaid. I would say it is simple, elegant and very well executed.
The lume is one of the best feature of this watch, it is bright and stays for almost all night long.
it is astonishing for lume junkies like myself.
The watch comes on a bond nato strap, which is very well done with superb materials; I can easily say that this is one of the best nato hardware I’ve seen, with Borealis name etched on one of the keepers
Here are the specs:
– Case Size: 41.5 X 47 mm, although it wears a bit smaller, maybe due to the thick bezel structure
– 20 mm lug width
– Thickness: 12.5 mm
– Water Resistance: 300 m
– Miyota 9015 movement
– Viton and Tefzel gaskets for crystal and case back
– Swiss Made BGW9 Superluminova applied on dial, hands and bezel insert, it glows blue!
Finally this is an excellent watch for the money, extremely well finished with great specs

….. Highly recommended.
